Social Justice Group
Mission Statement
We celebrate the Creator’s gift of diversity and value the wholeness made possible in community equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, level of education, and family structure, and of every economic, immigration, marital, and social status, and so much more. We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. Because of our continuing commitment to grow both in our faith and in our relationship
with one another, we pledge our lives to the pursuit of justice and vow to stand in solidarity with each other and those around the world until equity is realized by all.
We affirm, recognize and support the right of all people to enter into loving, committed relationships in the sanctity of marriage.
We believe Christian teaching calls us to support all people of any gender, race, age, ethnicity, physical and mental ability to be ordained and serve in the United Methodist Church to the best of their capabilities and fully welcome their gifts and contributions to our church.
The Details
Social justice group gathers every other Monday at 6:30pm on Zoom.
The social justice group explores diversity, equity and inclusion and the ways in which our world does not adequately love all of God’s children.
Presently, the group is reading and discussing Alabama Grandson: A Black, Gay Minister’s Passage Out of Hiding by Cedrick Bridgeforth.
